Whether you’re a new Amazon seller just getting started, or a seasoned pro looking to improve your product research skills, we’ve developed this article to share strategies on how to find products to sell on Amazon FBA.
There isn’t a strategy to find the perfect product that’s guaranteed to sell; however, there are key factors to consider to increase your chances of success.

Product Research Criteria
It’s important to have a set product criteria when evaluating products because you want to eliminate the products unlikely to sell and know when a product gives you the best chance to succeed. The goal is to find low-competition products with high demand. If there are too many sellers and you can’t rank on the first page, meaning it’s unlikely you’ll garner any sales. Or if the market only produces 200 sales per month within that niche, there likely isn’t enough sales to go around for anyone.
Here are a few guidelines to follow. First, look for products that generate a minimum of 10 sales per day. Make sure the product is at least 5,000 in the best seller rank. And the top three keywords should have over 50,000 monthly searches on Amazon. If your product falls under this category, you know there is an excellent demand for what you’re trying to sell.
Room for Improvement
You want to find niches that aren’t completely dominated by its sellers. The idea is that you want to come into this niche and capture sales away from your competitors by outranking them in different keywords, higher quality photos, unique product features, better product descriptions, and even potentially more product reviews.
Price between $15-$50
Amazon is one of the biggest platforms where impulse decisions are made. It’s a platform where customers typically buy things they don’t need. Keeping your price range relatively low, makes it easy for customers to make quick buying decisions. If you’re a beginner, it’s a great way to get your feet wet in the FBA business.
Sold Year Round
Ideally, you want to find products sold year-round rather than hopping on the seasonal trends to get repeatable sales.
Method 1: Use AMZScout
Amzscout is a popular product search software that allows you to sort products by a diverse set of filters and give you detailed information such as sales volume, supplier information, product ideas, profitable keywords, and more.
First, you’ll need to install the AMZ Scout Pro Chrome Extension tool. When you have the tab open, you’ll want to select the orange Niche Idea button. With this tool, they’ll randomly display results of profitable products and show you useful data, including the Average Monthly Sales, Average Sales Rank, Average Price, Average Net Margin, Potential Score, as well as all of the product listings in that specific niche.
In this example, you can see that AMZ Scout gave you tons of listings in the niche of “reusable Ziploc bags” that are performing well where they even show you their estimated sales, revenue, net margins, and more. All you have to do is take this niche, source a supplier, and sell the same or similar product.
Next, copy the keyword provided by the extension into the AMZ Keyword Explorer located in the web version of AmzScout. Then the page will show you a list of results of long-tail keywords with estimated monthly search volume for that keyword and the dominant categories that the keywords are under. You can then sell products in this niche and dominate the market by running PPC campaigns for these high search traffic keywords to ensure you’re on the top of the search results.
Amzscout Product Database
Once you’ve found your niche using the Chrome extension tool, you can further dive deeper into finding specific variations of products within that niche to sell. In the product database section, you can filter your results by categories, product tier, seller type, and properties. Personally, I would check off FBA, since you want to look for other FBA sellers. You also want to filter out any oversaturated or non-competitive products such as adding a Minimum of 1,000 Rank and a Maximum of 5,000. I would also filter out products that have been first available within the last six months to ensure I’m looking at products that have produced sales quickly to ensure you have the opportunity to rank fast.
From the image below, you can see that the Product Database feature can sort out Amazon products in great detail. On the top, there’s a view trends button to see whether or not this niche is trending upward. This database gives you a chance to spy on other sellers and see which products you’d like to model. You will want through all of the listings to find unique products in this space with excellent reviews and high sales volume.
Amzscout Product Tracker and Finding Supplier
Every product that you are interested in click the + button to add them into your product tracker. This saves those products for you in a separate list. By clicking on the 3rd button (2 buttons to the right of the + button), you can also find the exact product sourced from Alibaba. The Amzscout product tracker is a great way to follow-up with all of your competitors and gives you ideas about what you can begin selling.

Method 2: Helium10
Helium10 is an all-inclusive software for Amazon Sellers that gives you access to over 450 million products with advanced filters to find products that are right for you. You can also validate these products with metrics and have a software to automate your keyword usage in titles, descriptions, and bullet points to optimize your rankings in organic traffic. You can even run PPC campaigns through this platform to provide bid suggestions and campaign management.
Helium10 Black Box
This tool is similar to the Amzscout Product Database. With this tool, you’ll be able to conduct your research by browsing through categories, searching by keyword, and using advanced filtering tools to narrow down the best options for you. We have a full review of Helium10 here.
I recommend using some of their advanced filtering features that fit your product research criteria.
Method 3: Sniping Other Stores
Once you’ve found a good list of products to work with, you can dive deeper to find other FBA sellers who are selling the same product and even go through their store. A term commonly used by FBA sellers is called “sniping.” This is when you scan through other FBA stores to see what other products they are selling. If a seller has one great product that they are winning the buy box for and leading on top of the search rankings, there is a high chance they also are selling other profitable products as well.
Notice how this store named Fengyi Limited has 12 different products they are selling. We can evaluate many stores and manually check the BSR rankings, search volume, and estimated monthly sales. You can use the AmzScout Sales Estimator tool to find the estimated sales per month. Run each product through your product research criteria to gauge whether or not to sell this item.
How To Find Products To Sell On Amazon FBA - Conclusion
Although you can do your manual product research without using any software, it’s highly recommended to use them. Being able to filter products by rankings, revenue, monthly sales, keywords, and more allows you to find hot products in minutes. With one tool, you have the capability to spy on Amazon FBA sellers doing 6, 7, and 8 figures in revenue. Before you understand how to find products to sell on Amazon FBA, it’s important to first know your product criteria, so that you know what to look out for. You should strive to win the buy box or, at the bare minimum, be the first option available if you aren’t able to snag that buy box.
